Course Outline

This qualification would apply to individuals with various business services job titles including team leader, general office managers and frontline office managers. Individuals in these roles carry out moderately complex task in a specialized field of expertise that requires business operation skills.
They may possess substantial experience in a range of settings but seek to further develop their skills across a wide range of business functions.
We have selected the units that makes this qualification specialization in Leadership.


All international students must be 18 years of age at the time of commencement.

English Language Requirement:

ILETS 5.5 (Academic or general) or equivalent internationally recongnised test result in line with DIBP regulation. or Evidence that they have studied in English for at least five years in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, United Kingdom or united State of America. Or. Evidence that within 2 years of their application date, they have successfully completed certificate IV or Higher level qualification from the Australian qualification framework. Or. For level 1 countries students, they successfully complete the LLN test administrated by Techie international college.

Academic Requirement:

Academic Requirements- Students must have satisfactorily completed a minimum of year 11 or equivalent.


Techie International College will also administer Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Evaluation test to all students to ensure that they have the ability to complete the course. This test will occur prior to the course commencement and will be assessed by authorised Techie International College’s delegate.

Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)

All international students must have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the entire duration of their stay in Australia.

Educational Pathways

On completion of this qualification, students may may pursue Advanced diploma of business.

Employment Pathways

Participants completing BSB50120 Diploma of Business may enter into or continue current roles including: Accounts Supervisor, Frontline Manager, Office Manager, Team Leader.


This course will be delivered over 54 weeks consisting of 50 weeks of face-to-face study and 4 weeks term break. 20 contact hours per week.

RPL / Credit Transfer

Students with prior learning and work experience can apply for RPL. Students who have completed corresponding units of competency and/or units contained within the packaging rules can apply for Credit Transfer. RPL evidence must include some of the following:

  • Work experience
  • Life experience
  • Previous study
  • Professional development programs

Assessment Method

Assessment is structured throughout the course. If students are unable to achieve competency, additional support is provided through mentoring and access to re-assessment as outline in our policies and procedures.

Assessment requires achievement across all tasks to demonstrate competence and includes:

  • Written Questions and Answers
  • Role Play/ Presentation
  • Projects/Case Studies
  • Practical Demonstrations/Observations

Course Structure

BSB50120 – Diploma of Business

Participants need to complete Twelve (12) units of competency, within the BSB Package at Diploma level. This qualification has 05 core units.

05 elective units, of which:

  • 02 elective units must be selected from the Group A units
  • The remaining 05 elective units may be selected from the Group A-I
  • If not listed, 2 elective unit may be selected from either a Certificate IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma from this or any other currently endorsed training package qualification or accredited course

Elective units must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the integrity of the alignment and contribute to a valid industry-supported vocational outcome

Volume of Learning

The volume of learning allocated to a qualification will vary depending on the level of the qualification and the experience and competency of the student. As per the Australian Quality Framework, students must complete the allocated hours for the qualification they are undertaking to achieve competency. If the student applies for Recognition of Prior Learning or Credit Transfer, the volume of learning may be reduced. The hours that make up the volume of learning BSB50120 –Diploma of Business are:

Unique Student Identifier

Students are required to obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI) prior to commencing their course. The USI provides students with the ability to obtain a complete record of their Vocational Education and Training records from a single online source. Techie International College will not issue a Certificate or Statement of Attainment to a student who does not have a USI unless they fall under the USI exemptions. You can obtain a USI from or Techie International College can obtain it on your behalf once you complete and Application for USI which will be provided to you with your enrolment form. If you are an offshore international student studying outside of Australia then you are exempt from having a Unique Student Identifier:

Information about our training and assessment, policies and procedures are included in student handbook and should be read by you, prior to enrolment in addition to the Student handbook which is also located on server and available for you. These documents contain important information about your training course, fees and charges including our refund policy.

Identification of Student Needs and Student Support

Student needs are declared by the applicant at the time of enrolment: the application form allows the applicant to self-declare where they have learning disabilities.

Every student is interviewed either face-to-face or over the telephone to attempt to establish the applicant skill and knowledge levels, their current employment and how that relates to the course content and interaction.

Where language, literacy and numeracy are in question Techie International College has a language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) assessment they may undertake to confirm their level of language, literacy and numeracy skills.

Reasonable adjustments to training and assessment will be made and additional support (e.g. LLN, assistive technology, additional training, alternative delivery and assessment modes and methods) provided where students with physical attributes or specific learning needs are identified as requiring these changes to complete their training and assessment.
